Update for late January....

I leave tomorrow for Columbus and am looking forward to seeing new and wonderful things and meeting new and wonderful people!

Here are the project updates:

I submitted "The Nature of Us" to the Big Range Austin Dance Festival. I also applied for the improvisation program as well for this festival. We'll see how it all works out. Notification is next month.

"Retrospect" is a new solo that I finished choreographing for my time in Colombus and Boulder. I have yet to integrate the movement into "See Ya in the Funny Papers", but that will be next (as will all the image processing)!

"Don't Hold Your Breath" pictures are back. I'm in the process of picking photos suitable for promotional material. Thanks to Shawn Hodges, Victoria and Lisa Waugh, and of course to Megan and Michelle - my dancers. Faith and I are set to meet about the stop-motion animation in February and Victoria and I will get back to work on the costumes. Megan, Michelle and I will get back to rehearsals asap!

I'm always pleased that people are so willing to put out good work and to collaborate with others. It gives me hope for humanity!

Till next time~~~~

A multitude of projects

There's so much going on right now. I am leaving for Austin on the 20th for a little self-imposed dance workshop taking modern, ballet, feldenkrais, yoga classes and showing my work for a little critical discourse. I'm looking forward to it. I'm also performing January 24th with the Fishbowl Soldiers in Saturday Night Special at Salvage Vanguard Theatre. Here's a sample of what we've done before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXkoZIL0ixQ&feature=channel and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy-CmrGIm4g.

Other project updates:

The Nature of Us if finished! Please stayed tuned for viewing dates!!!!! I'm really proud of how this turned out and I can't wait to share it.

Retrospect is a new solo that I am half-way finished with. Some of this movement will be used in the third section of See Ya in the Funny Papers. Speaking of which...

See Ya in the Funny Papers is moving along. Kevin has finished the music and I am working on the choreography. I am also beginning the daunting task of pulling photos together for the projected art that I will develop through Adobe Flash.

Don't Hold Your Breath photoshoot was a week ago with Shawn Hodges. I can't wait to get the pictures back!!!! Victoria and I still need to work on the tops to make them what we want. We plan on embellishing the tutus a little more while we're at it.

A lot of fun things going on - good stuff!

Don't Hold Your Breath project notes

Victoria (our costume designer) and I spent the day dyeing t-shirts to go with our tutus. I also met with Faith (a stop motion animator) about creating the 2:15 minute animation for the final section of "Don't Hold Your Breath". Both of these young ladies are Henderson High School seniors. I'm so impressed by their creativity and energy!

Stills from Nature of Us Video Shoot

Jeromy and I are in the process of editting. I'm so pleased!
Below are stills from the shoot.
