Converge was a success!

The 3rd Annual Motor Dance Fundraiser, Converge, was a success! For the first time EVER, setup time, rehearsal was AHEAD of schedule and also allowed for some unexpected, but cool things to happen. For example, an SFA tv reporter came to take some shots of some dance and yoga and to interview me. I had originally thought she was coming to just film the evening, but she just wanted a few things and we were able to accomodate this before the show without a problem. I'm looking forward to seeing how that turned out.

Everyone did a wonderful job! The yoga was intriguing and cool to watch, the artwork was beautiful, the music was GREAT - (thanks to The Mustn'ts, Lee Pruitt, Russ Havard and Larry Bishop), Juanita Finkenberg and Linda Choate presented a beautiful duet and I have to say that Motor Dance danced the heck out of Notes on Life and Don't Hold Your Breath - section 1. The improvisation section at the end was a hit and something new to the Nacogdoches audience. I'm really pleased that Jennifer Micallef was able to make it to East Texas. Her explanation of the process was well put and the audience came along with us on our journey - which is always good. And as always, it's great to improv with her.

I hope that we can do this type of event again. It truly was a collaborative event and I'm touched that there were so many people willing to be involved and put their best work out there to share with people. ALSO - APO at SFA is the coolest. This organization really helped make things run smoothly. Thanks Ari!!!!

Okay, I'm done gushing. :-)

The Nature of Us - Music, Location, Jacket for film

The music has been chosen (been chosen for a while actually). It's by The McCarricks out of the UK. The track is In the Key of Three.

Here a few pictures of the location:

Stills of constructed jacket. I have a sturdier version for outdoors. The one below has chiffon sleeves - good for the stage, not good for the trees....

Converge - Motor Dance Fundraiser

We're a week and a half away from the fundraiser. I'm pretty excited about how things are shaping up and how people are coming together to make this a cool event. This Saturday we will hang the artwork after rehearsal. I'm excited to see everyone's work up on the walls. I'm also looking forward to seeing this all in action. I'm pleased that we'll be starting off the show with The Mustn'ts to get us all in a cool mood. Arianna will be our MC-extraordinaire and the Morning Glory yogis will lead us in a Sun Salutation followed by some really cool yoga demos. Good stuff! Motor will perform a "somewhat" re-worked version of "Notes on Life", Real Women Dancing will perform a duet version of "At the Kitchen Table", Jennifer Micallef will wow us with her improvisational solo and Motor will return to premiere the first section of "Don't Hold Your Breath" (sans the projections). We'll wrap up the show with the Fishbowl Soldiers - Jennifer and I executing on-the-spot reactions to words that the audience places in a fishbow. FUN! Other musicians include Lee and Javier accompanying the yoga demonstrations and Russ Havard serenading us as we conclude the event. I can't wait!

The Nature of Us with Tom

Yeah! Tom Truss and I will begin rehearsals October 25th for The Nature of Us dance film. I'm excited to get to work with Tom again and can't imagine anyone else in his role - so this is wonderful news. Filming will take place in Henderson the second week of December!
